TIFFANY 1892-97 "Favrile Blue & Purple Iridescent" Art Glass Scalloped Edge Bowl, Rare Older Version. No chips, cracks, damage, repairs, as it is from studio. Older piece shows a little use/age, gorgeous example, older than most! 7.25" across, 2.75" deep, 3.5 around base polished pontil flat base w-scuffs, old, expected! This beautiful Favrile glass bowl has a gracefully scalloped upper edge and ribbed design. The vibrant dark blue iridescent glass body is stunning with strong highlights of purple.
"Favrile" glass was patented by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1894 and along with Frederick Carder's "Aurene" glass made for Steuben. This glass set the highest standard for iridescent glass at the turn of the 20th century.
